The Iranian Journal of Applied Language Studies (IJALS) is published by the University of Sistan and Baluchestan, Zahedan, in cooperation with the Linguistics Society of Iran and the Department of Linguistics and Philology, Uppsala University, Sweden. It is one of the outcomes of a scientific cooperation programme between the University of Sistan and Baluchestan and Uppsala University.

Second language acquisition, discourse and translation studies, as well as typology, contact linguistics and comparative linguistics are other subjects that can be addressed within the scope of this journal.

The journal is published both as a web resource with open access on the web page of the journal and as a printed publication. The aim is that it will appear twice a year.
