Aims and Scope

The Iranian Journal of Applied Language Studies (IJALS) is published by the University of Sistan and Baluchestan, Zahedan, in cooperation with the Linguistics Society of Iran and the Department of Linguistics and Philology, Uppsala University, Sweden. It is one of the outcomes of a scientific cooperation program between the University of Sistan and Baluchestan and Uppsala University.

This refereed journal has an internationally composed board of editors and welcomes articles on various aspects of language studies in an Iranian context, such as descriptions of Persian and Iranian minority languages as well as languages from other families spoken in Iran, English as a foreign language (EFL), other foreign languages in an Iranian context and Persian and other Iranian languages spoken in a non-Iranian context. Second language acquisition, discourse and translation studies, as well as typology, contact linguistics, and comparative linguistics are other subjects that can be addressed within the scope of this journal.

We welcome manuscripts from all areas and fields that discuss Iranian languages and discursive phenomena and their societal embeddedness, for instance, by addressing in/equity, exclusion/inclusion, societal challenges, and developments, or language rights.
